Program
Throughout the 4 workshop sessions, each student will build a botanical plate. Starting with basic exercises to explain the main concepts, as well as understanding the techniques of graphite and watercolor, each student will then work to achieve a nice painting at the end of the workshop.
In this session, you’ll learn basic graphite techniques to draw plants. We’ll practice scale drawing and perspective to create both flat and 3D sketches of leaves and flowers. You'll also learn how to see and shade shadows to add depth to your drawings.
In this session, you’ll practice watercolour techniques for painting plants. You’ll learn color mixing, explore color theory, and refine your skills in scale drawing and sketching. We’ll focus on capturing the details of leaves with depth and accuracy.
In this session, you’ll finalize your sketches, trace your drawings, and explore different watercolour techniques, including wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry, and dry brush. We’ll focus on applying these methods to bring flowers to life with depth and texture.
In this session, you’ll learn how to paint fine details using the drybrush technique. We’ll explore how to depict different surfaces, such as matte vs. glossy textures, shadows, and the unique qualities of hairy plants. This will help bring more realism and depth to your botanical paintings
